later than December 31, 2005. The awards will be presented
in May, 2006 at our annual conference.
Please take
the time and look over the information and get your application
nomination back in as soon as possible. It is important that
several participate. Remember, these are YOUR awards in
acknowledgement of all the hard work that you put into your job
and the Association.
Scholarship Committee Report - 2005
This year
at our annual WEA/AWWA awards banquet, we awarded two
scholarships of $1200.00 each. The Graduating High School
Scholarship was awarded to Ms. Megan M. Richards of Parkersburg,
West Virginia. She is the daughter of Craig and Vickie Richards.
After graduating from Parkersburg Catholic High School, she will
will be attending Wheeling Jesuit University. Megan a 3.857 GPA
and has been very active in the school, community, and church.
The Al
Roberts Memorial Scholarship for Undergraduate students went to
Ms. Melissa E. Coleman of Green Bank, West Virginia. She is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Coleman. Melissa won our
Graduating High School Scholarship last year. This past year,
she has been attending James Madison University of Harrisonburg,
Virginia. Melissa was just recently accepted into the James
Madison University’s School of Media Arts and Design and will be
pursing the Corporate Communication concentration. Melissa is
going to also apply for a major is Psychology.
I would
like to congratulate both of our awardees for a job well done.
Keep up the good work. I would also like to remind all of our
members that have children that are graduating high school or
college undergraduate next year, that they need to apply for one
of our scholarships. You can find the applications in our
Mountain Currents Magazine and Web site. You can also contact
the scholarship committee chairman.
I also want
to thank all the members of the scholarship committee for their
support and work in helping me over the past few years. These
members are Dwight Reggi, Past President, Ashok Sanghavi,
Engineer, James Canterbury, Vendor representative, and Michael
Johnson, Regulatory representative. I would also like to thank
all of those people who have sent in applications and would
encourage them to do so in the coming year.
