MAY WE HAVE
YOUR ATTENTION, PLEASE? We would like to introduce ourselves,
the newest members of the WVWEA Government Affairs Committee.
Eric Raper, who works for Thrasher Environmental, Inc., is our
new Chairman. There are also two new committee members: Jarrett
Smith of Potesta and Associates, Inc. and Angela Chestnut, who
works for the Charleston Sanitary Board.
We have
already been working toward and planning for the committee to
take a new direction. To date, we have meet with government
affairs contacts, held several planning meetings, decided on a
plan of action, registered two of our members as lobbyists, come
up with a new website design, and begun lobbying legislation
from the 2006 regular session.
We
encourage all of our members to take an active role with the
committee. We have formed a review board that is responsible for
reviewing selected potential legislation and determining the
WVWEA’s position on the policy. Click on the button to the left
for a list of those WVWEA members on the review board. After we
know WVWEA’s stance we are asking WVWEA members to contact
specific legislators in order to influence their decision on the
policy. We need all members interested in being contacted to
please e-mail Angela Chestnut at the e-mail address provided
below. We will use your e-mail addresses to contact you. Eric
Raper and Jarrett Smith, our lobbyists, are also presenting
WVWEA’s views to our legislators and making our voice heard.
